“Aspirational & STEMtastic stuff!!!”
We love working with Medical Mavericks! Its so important to give young people all the information about the STEM careers available to them. Tom and the gang manage to inspire their audience in a fun and interactive way. We learn something new every time we work together, from workshops with a few children to Big Bang North West and an audience of thousands. It’s aspirational, STEMtastic stuff.

“The girls have been raving about the activities since your visit!”
“I just wanted to say thank you to you and your team for bringing Science alive at Benenden today. The girls were raving about the activities and really enjoyed the practical nature- apparently Medical Mavericks made Science fun and accessible (but in biology lessons, biology is too hard!!!), so I obviously need to bid for a “Stan” and an “Ultrasound machine” in my next budget bid!! Anyway, today was fab and both the girls and teachers enjoyed ALL the activities.
Nicola Marshall – Head of Science, Benenden School, Kent
“This has been the best day of my life!”
“The staff from Medical Mavericks were fantastic at discussing career options with pupils, were brilliantly organised and excellent at tailoring the activities to the needs of the different groups of pupils. Pupils opted to continue with the activities during their break time and were also welcomed back at lunch.
Pupils fed back that the day had been “awesome”, “brilliant” and one was even overheard telling a friend “this has been the best day of my life”.
I would highly recommend Medical Mavericks and their careers workshop to any other school.”
Robert Hagan – The Henry Box School, Oxfordshire
“Everyone absolutely loved the event! We want to book again for next year, but this time for 2 days!”
“Tom and James were complete stars on the day. As you know our timetable was ridiculously packed and they were absolute troopers, only stopping for the briefest of breaks. Their energy, expertise and enthusiasm never dropped below max level all day and everyone absolutely loved the event.
As a result, the our parent & teacher association have given fantastic feedback and requested that we book again for next year, this time running the event over two days so as to allow pupils more time to explore all the different equipment more thoroughly”.
Marianne Macdona – Deputy Head, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, London

Your sessions were the highlight of the day and our years 8s had so much fun recording their ECGs, scanning their eyes and wearing the pathology goggles. We will be in touch next year to book you again!
Chris Wilson – Head of Biology, Highdown School & 6th Form, Reading
“An inspiring, fun & engaging workshop!”
Medical Mavericks health careers day was a fanatic event, brought in to support our developing the Young Workforce agenda, which is a Scottish national and school priority. All interested pupils in S4, S5 and S6 had the opportunity to experience an inspirational, hands on workshop, which gave an insight into the vast array of allied health professions. Feedback from pupils was extremely positive, many wishing they could spend longer in the workshop. The presenters were fun and engaging, and pitched it just right for all year groups.
Nichola Mortimer – Principal Teacher of Development, Williamwood High School, Glasgow
“Our students absolutely loved the hands on activities!”
“Booking Medical Mavericks helped me enormously and saved me a mountain of time! Tom inspired confidence right from the beginning that he would be reliable on the day and that he and the team would make jolly good presentations… and they did!
They are excellent ambassadors for the medical careers, with cheerful personalities, bright & lively characters that the pupils immediately took to and liked. They were excellent value for money and we definitely want to book them again for next year. “
Denise Read – Careers Advisor, Presdales School, Bucks
“Our pupils were inspired to explore future careers in health!”
“Our students had a wonderful day with the team from Medical Mavericks. The day involved all year groups with students and staff fully engaged in all the activities provided. The medical aspects of the day was totally hands on with students given excellent support from the Medical Mavericks team to develop their knowledge of healthcare and possible careers in the healthcare industry. With the use of real world equipment the concepts and ideas were brought to life for our students.
Our students also took part in a sports science afternoon with the chance to measure their own performance; going head to head to compete with the sprint time of Usain Bolt and the hand grip of astronaut Tim Peake. Again the Medical Mavericks team tailored the day to the individual needs of our students and provided clear guidance and instructions on the activities themselves and future careers in sports science. The day was enjoyable and engaging.
Pupils commented on how much fun the day had been and have been inspired to explore future careers in the medical world.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Medical Mavericks to other schools.”
Ian Dickson – The Wirral Hospital School, Merseyside
“The event encouraged students that were not striving to their best!”
“Thank you for your excellent workshops during our STEM Big Bang Festival last week. I have had rave reviews & students were excited and enthralled by the shows!
This type of event provides a practical and relevant way to show that there is a real world, where skills are needed and there are opportunities that lead fro school based STEM subjects. It encourages students to think about their own futures and inspires those that already have ideas but are not striving to do their best. Students came away enthused and motivated. I have always encouraged speakers to support what we do so we hopefully have more motivated and positive students.
Bob Duddridge – Science Teacher, Thomas Deacon Academy, Peterborough
“Children from over 40 primary schools in our region have loved the sessions with Medical Mavericks”.
Our organisation has worked with Medical Mavericks since 2013 and has always found Medical Mavericks staff to be professional, well organised, punctual and fantastic with the schools they have worked with. We had one student who said they couldn’t wait to print off their ECG and show their Mum that night!”
Katerina Souza – Director of Science, Richmond Park Academy, London
“The day creates such a buzz and you always challenge our students”
“The workshops are so much fun and provides our children with the opportunity to use ‘cool stuff’ that we just don’t have access to at school. The workshops linked learning to real life applications and gave advice on careers. They always challenge our pupils, helping find their strengths & weaknesses both physically & mentally.
The day creates such a buzz and the staff love seeing their pupil’s difference faces & expressions when taking part in the activities. We book you every year as you are so fantastic for our staff and students.”
Kulvinder Johal – Head of Science, Northbury Junior School, London
“Your team have inspired many of our students to consider a medical career!”
“Thanks to all of the your team for your really hard work today. We all had a great time and the students really enjoyed the sessions. I know they loved the ‘hands on’ nature of the activities and taking blood samples, finding out they had a heart and trying their hand at keyhole surgery were favourites. You and your team have inspired many of them to consider a career within the medical field through the good careers information and your enthusiastic delivery.
Thanks for organising such fun, interesting activities. I’m sure the students will remember this day for a very long time.”
Darrell Jennings – Head of Science, Belper School, Derbyshire
“The students have been talking to teachers about different careers as a result of what you did on the day!”
I just wanted to say a big ‘Thank you’ to you and your colleagues for the fabulous Enterprise Day you provided for us last Thursday. The feedback from staff and pupils has been great!
Some of the pupils were really inspired, taking themselves off to Science and Social Care teachers to ask about option subjects for a future medical career. They were also surprised by the variety of careers in the medical sector.
The intention of the day was to inform, inspire and educate pupils about the different STEM and medical jobs opportunities available to them. One pupil said to his tutor, ‘I loved every single moment of the day and I definitely want to study to become a doctor now’ I think this says it all.
